Crucial Music January News

Posted 5th Jan 2012

360 has been taking over radios, televisions, computer screens and stages the past couple of months, and word of stunning album Falling and Flying has been spreading like wildfire. Last week the record made another impressive dent in the ARIA charts, rising from #45 up to #27. The album has been sitting in the ARIA Top 50 since it’s release a massive 13 weeks ago.

Sixty pulled an enormous crowd and had them begging for more at the Falls Festival on New Years Eve. With the lovely Gossling joining him on stage, plus Sixty in a Buzz Lightyear costume and DJ Mat Cant rocking a Captain America outfit, they got the party started right. For all tour dates, check out 360music.com.au

Not only has summer single single Boys Like You been causing a riot at radio (scoring adds at triple j and Nova) a national headline tour for February and March was announced last month and tickets are selling fast. Careering across the nation, the Brisbane and Sydney dates are already SOLD OUT, with supports and a second Sydney show revealed just this morning. All tickets available now here.

The slick soap-opera like video for Boys Like You made it to screens over Christmas, featuring not only 360 but also indie songstress Gossling and Ruby Rose. Replaying the tragic love triangle that inspired the song, it’s sure been something to talk about on Sixty’s websites. Check the vid out for yourself right here.

Last month the 360 web store was launched to an incredible response from fans. Seems that Sixty’s range of old school snapback caps are a very desirable items; both batches released so far sold out in less than a day, and all other items are proving wildly popular. More items are to be added to the range soon, so keep your eyes on the store: store.360music.com.au

THE LIVING END not only performed at the 2011 ARIA Awards, they also walked away with two shiny new gongs.  The band took out the Best Rock Album and Most Popular Australian Live Artist at the awards, the latter a publicly voted award.

Last weekend the band took to the stage with great furore at Phillip Island’s Pyramid Rock Festival. The lads were understandably rearing to hit the stage after a short break throughout the festive season. TLE’s usual high octane rock show went down a treat with Pyramid punters. Check out some photos here.

Chris Cheney relocated to Los Angeles last month, which now means that none of The Living End live in Melbourne anymore. Scott headed up the east coast early last year and Andy has long lived outside of Melbourne. With the guys so spread out now, gigs might be a bit fewer and further between. That’s just another important reason TLE-heads better get out and catch up with the band on the Big Day Out.

The epic 2012 Big Day Out tour kicks off in just over two weeks now, and the band have secreted themselves away to hone their best and most exciting rock show for the 20th birthday of the annual travelling carnival. Big Day Out tickets are on sale now here.

Third single from The Ending is Just the Beginning Repeating album was released at the end of last year. Stirring tune For Another Day is now available at iTunes, with the fan contributed video ready to be watched at The Living End’s official Youtube page, click here.

In other shows; punters in Adelaide can catch up with the band at the Clipsal 500 after race concert on Mon Mar 04. Tassie fans will also get a look in as The Living End join the bumper Breath of Life Festival on Sun Mar 11 in Launceston. All tour dates and ticketing details below or at www.thelivingend.com.

DANIEL LEE KENDALL has been garnering some attention Stateside courtesy of song Lost in the Moment featuring in a series of commercials for US jewellry company Zales Jewellers and Canadian company People’s Jewellers. HUNTING GROUNDS have been busy over the past month, banging out quality performances all over Victoria. First up Hunting Grounds joined long-time buddies Yacht Club DJ’s to ring in Christmas at Melbourne’s Prince of Wales (this was one sweaty show) Then they activated the mid-afternoon party at Phillip Island’s Pyramid Rock Festival over the new years weekend.

The attitude-packed Ballarat sextet have also scored some very coveted festival slots throughout the summer months. The lads will perform at the Melbourne Big Day Out on Sun Jan 29, followed by a spot at the Golden Plains Festival over Labour Day weekend on Sat Mar 10.

Hunting Grounds will spend some time in the studio finishing off their debut album throughout February and March, a process started last year with he recording and release of first single from the album In Colour.

In Colour scored the #41 spot in the Rage Top 50 videos of the year last month. Check out the full list here. An impressive end for the song that no doubt snared some new fans for the band in 2011.
